MICHAEL DICKEY (b. 1979)
Born in Denver, Colorado, Michael studied painting at Colorado State University and at ItalArt in Castiglioni de Florentino, Italy. In 2003 he came to New York to further pursue his painting career and later worked as a painter for a commercial art-consulting firm. Michael has extensive experience with materials and has worked as a professional art installer. His works have been exhibited in Colorado, New York, Montana and California. Michael's paintings are highly elaborate in technique and detail. His abstract landscapes while appearing modest in color, expose multiple layers of vivid transparencies that result in an in depth effect that teases the eye into finding various levels of perspective. Michael has also explored the field of conceptual art and produced a number of works that comment on politics and popular culture. Michael speaks some Spanish, lives and works in New York and is preparing his next exhibition in Denver.
