MASAKI TAKISAWA (b. 1966)
Masaki Takisawa was born in Okayama and currently lives and works in New York. He received a masters and a postgraduate degree in Fine Arts from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts & Music and later studied at the Art Students League of New York. His work has been exhibited in Japan and the U.S. and is currently acquired by private collectors in both countries. Masaki's sculptures are a playful reminder of human relationships. His characters inhabit a frozen world of monochromatic bronze, their expression invite he viewer to smile. Occasionally the highly polished surfaces in these works offer the viewer a look into his own self and involve him directly with the characters portrayed. This work is the solid result of more than 15 years experience as a sculptor. Masaki will always look 20 years old.
