JEANNETTE SURA (b.1958)
Born in Valparaiso, Chile, Jeannette Sura lives and works in New York. She studied with Matilde Pérez (1920-) and Humberto Sarnataro in Santiago de Chile, and with Larry Poons (1937-) and Charles Hinman (1932-) in New York. Jeannette's work is currently acquired by private collectors in the U.S., Europe, as well as Central and South America. Her creative process usually begins with a primary color idea, which evolves into voluptuous compositions that vary in shade, visual and physical depth. Jeannette's works are a reflection on her human experience. While they convey an idea of nature, they also transport the viewer into a world of tranquility or frenetism. The use of palette knife in this work is instrumental in achieving the result. Jeannette's works are abstract gardens, skies and forests of color. A visit to Jeannette's studio is like watching a magician work his hat. There is always another surprise coming.
