HISAYASU TAKASHIO (b. 1962)

Hisayasu Takashio (Shio) was born in Tokyo, and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. His work has been exhibited extensively in the U.S. and Europe. He received an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts from the Design School of Tokyo and later a Fine Arts certificate in Sculpture and Printmaking from the Art Students League of New York. He has been actively creating and exhibiting his work since 1994. Shio's work ranges from paintings and large scale prints and mixed media drawings to wood sculpture, installation and collaborative performance. Shio has worked extensively on the subject of the human hands. His renderings of these are a combined symphony of nature and human anatomy. His broad experimentation with materials has resulted in a body of work that is infused with uncanny spirituality, delightful color and form, and harmonic visual effects. Shio's wedding party was in the chicest beauty salon in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
